Bring the magical world of Shakespeare to life with your own Renaissance Faire! Since 2002, we've provided full-service Renaissance Faires for middle schools in southern California with exciting workshops and dynamic performances! This assembly includes three interactive workshops:
WORKSHOP 1: ELIZABETHAN DANCE
With this workshop, students are taught the basic elements of Elizabethan dance. Using upbeat music selections from Shakespeare's time, the students begin with elementary steps that quickly grow into complex routines and patterns culminating in a completed dance.
WORKSHOP 2: STAGE COMBAT
In this workshop, students receive a safe and reliable set of combat techniques for use in Shakespearean productions. All of the students will have an opportunity to work with a real sword as they learn attacks, defenses, advances, retreats, targeting and performance.
WORKSHOP 3: SHAKESPEAREAN DUMB SHOW
This workshop allows students to perform a short comedic scene from "A Midsummer Night's Dream" using a popular form of Elizabethan improvisation. Students are directed to act out the comedy of Pyramus and Thisbe complete with blocking and characterization.
The workshops offered in this assembly cannot be changed or modified. This assembly does not offer any workshops besides those listed on this page. The assembly is 2 hours long with each workshop lasting 30 minutes followed by a 30 minute final performance. The length of this assembly cannot be extended and can serve a maximum of 400 students.
