Performance Dates Announced for Shakespearience

Tickets are now available for LA's most exciting Shakespeare field trip! Playing at the Alex Theatre January 31st, February 1st and 2nd, reservations for Shakespearience can be made online through our website! This amazing field trip features stunning performances of the Bard's finest works! Essentially a "play within a play", the production follows the adventures of an acting troupe as they explore scenes from Shakespeare's most famous plays!

Summer Arts Conservatory Final Showcase for Session 2

Tonight, the Summer Arts Conservatory presented the final showcase for the second session to an enthusiastic crowd of family and friends and the results were electric! With 213 students from 5 different art departments in the production, there were performances and exhibitions from Theatre, Dance, Music, Visual Arts and Cinematic Arts. The evening was beautifully enhanced by the soaring set which featured 7 high definition movie screens!

Our final showcase for the Summer Acting Camp was a smashing success thanks to the hard work and talent of the staff and students! As the lights dimmed in the La Canada Playhouse, the energy in the air was palpable and the excitement high! The 224 students enrolled in second session of the Summer Acting Camp dazzled the audience as they performed a wide range of different acts! Congratulations to everyone on an amazing show!

Our first showcase of the summer for the Summer Arts Conservatory premiered tonight in LACHSA's new, state-of-the-art theatre to universal acclaim! 165 students from the first session of the Summer Arts Conservatory presented the results of their phenomenal efforts over the past three weeks! The multimedia program allowed students to present their work from the five different departments offered at the Summer Arts Conservatory!

What better way to celebrate the amazing talent of the students at the Summer Acting Camp than with a brilliant showcase! The 204 students enrolled in first session worked tirelessly for three weeks to present an exciting evening of talented performances! Our theme this year featured a salute to Hollywood with scenes, songs, tap numbers and stage combat sequences drawn from the greatest films in cinematic history! Fantastic show everyone!

T.E.G. was excited to be at Adam Middle School's first ever Renaissance Faire! Nearly 300 students partook in 3 different workshops taught by T.E.G. instructors including Shakespearean dumbshow, Elizabethan dance and stage combat! The students then assembled in their outside auditorium for a presentation of energetic scenes from Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream by our actors!

For the 14th year in a row, T.E.G. returned to participate in Luther Burbank Middle School's annual Renaissance Faire! Nearly 400 students took part in 3 different workshops taught by T.E.G. instructors including stage combat, Shakespearean dumbshow and Elizabethan dance! Subsequently, the students assembled in the auditorium for a presentation of high spirited scenes from Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream by our actors.

Students were given a concrete technique for approaching classical theatre with a special focus on the works of the Bard. Students were also taught how to identify the defining characteristics of the period and use them in creating a character while working with selected classical text!

Actors from T.E.G. presented our popular Stage Combat Workshop to a group of enthusiastic students studying Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" at The Oakwood School. Students learned the basic mechanics behind proper sword play including parries, attacks, footwork, targeting and performance. After learning two different fight sequences from the play, students were treated to a live performance from Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet" by our actors!

T.E.G. actors were at The Oakwood School today to conduct our exciting acting workshop for a group of eager students studying Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet". Students were given the fundamental building blocks for creating a character using Shakespeare's text and their imagination! Each student was directed to pick a small selection of lines from scenes in Romeo and Juliet and then coached on how to create dynamic, living characters!

This year, more than 4,000 students attended Shakespearience making our popular production one of the most highly attended field trips in California! T.E.G. instructor Nick Mizrahi returned to The Webb School to conduct another of our thrilling stage combat classes! In this workshop, students were given the opportunity to study armed combat using two handed broadswords. Special attention was paid to advances, retreats, attacks and parries. Subsequently, students were taught a brief fight sequence specially choreographed to compliment their classroom curriculum!

Students at The Webb School were treated to an exciting workshop on armed stage combat using rapiers with T.E.G. instructor, Nick Mizrahi! In this class, students were afforded the chance to explore armed combat from the Elizabethan period. Beginning with advances and retreats, students were given a set of safe and reliable techniques for armed stage combat with special emphasis placed on targeting, attacks and parries.
